Core Values

Christ-Centered
Jesus is the One who planted this church, and He is the One who is leading it.  We value a heart attitude in which Jesus is the source from which every activity flows.  Recognizing that self-dependence is a direct killer of fruitful ministry, we will pursue a personal relationship with Jesus keeping Him at the center of our lives.  His agenda is the one that matters to this church and prayer is how we will seek Him for all decisions, valuing daily dependence upon Him.
(Colossians 2:6-7; John 14:6; Hebrews 12:1-2; Acts 20:24; Ephesians 1:21-23; 2:20)

Biblically Grounded
We value the Bible as the authoritative Word of God and recognize it’s ability to transform our lives.  We value the Bible as the foundation, authority, and directive for everything we do.  Because of our deep love for the Bible, weekend messages will be expository—we will let the Bible speak, exposing it’s meaning in both context and intent. Every area of ministry, from Kids to Adults, will be based on Biblical truth and its practical application to our lives.
(John 1:1; John 8:31-32; Revelation 22:18; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Isaiah 40:8; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

On Mission
100% percent of the activities of this church are valued as mission work.  We are living out the command to “Go and make disciples” and believe that our love for God sends us out to love others in His name no matter if they are across the street or across the globe.  We will plant, send, and go both locally and globally in order to express our obedience to the Great Commission.  We will love the lost, care for the oppressed and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with our world.  Church planting is one of the ways in which we will stay on mission.
(Acts 1:8, John 1:5-8, Matthew 5:13-16, Colossians 1:6, Matthew 4:19, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 9:1-6, Romans 10:14-15, Acts 20:24, Colossians 1:28-29, 2 Timothy 2:2, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21)

Humble Service
We value the heart and mind committed to servanthood as the primary motivation for service.  We value the fame of Jesus above any ministry, person, or program.  Humility and its related values are cherished in all of our behaviors: transparency, gentleness, integrity, trust, sincere involvement with others, collaboration, teachability, forgiveness, and a willingness to put our own opinions aside and pull together in order to give leadership.  We will pursue to live like Jesus in a balance of grace and truth in our conversations with others.  We will invite feedback and analysis of ministry in order to grow and to love others well.
(John 3:30-31, Proverbs 22:4, Ephesians 4:2, John 13:3-5, 12-17, James 4:6-10, Matthew 20:25-28, Luke 18:10-14, Luke 22:26-27, Philippians 2:3-11)

Authentic Community
We value the fact that we are planted by God in the culture and community of San Clemente.  We will pursue authentic expression of our faith in beach-oriented opportunities as part of our mission.  We also value the church community as a family within the larger culture.  We are brothers and sisters in Christ together and reach out for intentional acceptance of others.  The Shoreline Church will be a place characterized by welcoming acceptance for people’s pasts while inspiring them toward God’s future in Christ Jesus our Lord.  We will give people the sense of belonging so they might become believing and take up following Jesus together with us.
(Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 1:8, Colossians 3:12-17, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Romans 12:9-10, John 13:34-35, 1 John 1:3)

Creative Expression
We value creative expression as a means to worship God with excellence and to connect with our culture in meaningful ways.  We will pursue and incorporate the diversity of artistic expression as part of our worship experience.  We will create environments for people to engage with the Holy Spirit all while submitting to the glory and honor of Christ Jesus.  We will bring fresh worship ideas as our expression of His worth.
(Colossians 3:23, Genesis 1:1, Psalm 33:1-3, Psalm 86:9, Psalm 150:6, Psalm 47:6, Hebrews 12:28-29, Psalm 100, Exodus 36:1)

Discipleship Transformation
We value the visible, never ending, total transformation to Christlikeness the Holy Spirit is accomplishing in every believer.  We will be directed by the Holy Spirit in providing opportunities for growth and movement along the pathway to a Christ-Centered life.  We will provide catalyst moments for people to make decisions to respond to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to become more like Jesus.  We will define and clearly articulate the Discipleship Pathway and be models of what a life of following Jesus together looks like.
