OPERATION RACK PACK

Over 4,000 Marines and Sailors are returning to Camp Pendleton this spring! Show your appreciation by helping to give them a hero’s welcome.

Many items are needed to help pull this off. Here is a general wish list (for ALL units) to share. If you’d like a unit-specific wish list, just email Cindy Farnum at cfarnum@operationhelpahero.com

Right now, our greatest needs are the following:
1. Towels
2. Deodorant
3. Shaving Cream
4. Sports drinks
5. Toothpaste
6. Trial size laundry detergent
7. Trial size shampoo
8. Fresh fruits (oranges and apples)– we won’t collect these from donors more than a week before the projects
9. Toothbrushes
10. T-shirts

How groups can help:
1. If your group would like to collect a specific item, please let us know and we’ll help you get the word out! A great example of this is Arroyo Vista elementary school. The kids are collecting “waters for warriors” for their jog-a-thon this spring and making a dent in our 4,000 for waters. Another example is Valencia Elementary School with Dean Steidle’s lead– he’s challenging his students to fill his van with towels!

2. If your group has kids under 8 (under our age limit to go into the barracks), attached is a list of ways your young children can help out.

3. Host a yard sale, bake sale, or collection and donate proceeds so we can purchase our most needed items.

4. Make posters and welcome home cards — we need 4,000 of each, so grab your friends, too!

5. Collect “coins for Cuties!” Just before each project we will purchase fresh fruits, like cuties to include in the welcome home bags. Something as simple as rounding up loose change can help us do this.

6. VOLUNTEER!!!!!
