Pastors_Blog_GeorgeMan, there just isn’t that many times in the Bible when we hear of God going out looking for something; or someone in this case.  But in 2 Chronicles 16:9a, folded into an account of one of the Kings of Judah, is an account of God going on a search.

“The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him” 2 Chronicles 16:9a.

A ‘seer’ named Hanani spoke the truth of the above verse.  He had just informed King Asa of Judah that he had made a very poor choice when he chose to call upon the King of Aram for help rather than calling upon God.  Asa should have known that God loves to give strength to the one who fully commits to Him!

Most of us have probably heard that “It takes money to make money,” but how many of us have ever heard that it takes full commitment to the Lord to find His strengthening?

God is in fact on a search throughout the entire earth looking for hearts of men and women who are trusting in Him- even waiting upon Him- eager to give them the strength that they need to face the trials and challenges of their day.

Here are a couple things worth thinking more deeply about:

  • My heart is where I make my commitments to anything and everything, and it’s the place where God goes looking for them.  My heart is where my pursuits are made and weighed.
  • My choices in the world display my heart commitments for all to see.  If I do not trust the Lord, seers will see it.  If I do trust the Lord, He will give me the strength to meet the challenges of the day.
